Beigegeben eine Expertise von Jose Luis Morales Y Marin, Madrid, 24. Oktober 1994.

THE MARTYRDOM OF PETER PASCHASIUSOil on canvas.
55 x 40.5 cm.

Accompanied by an expert‘s report by Jose Luis Morales Y Marin, Madrid, dated 24 October 1994.

The depiction of the martyrdom of Petrus Paschasius was a popular subject in Spain. The bozzetto on offer for sale here was attributed to Goya by Morales y Marin. Morales was not aware of a finished version and neither are we. However, according to him a painting of the same subject held at the Cathedral of Jaen and dating 1794 easily compares to the work on offer for sale here.
