Die Meeresgöttin Thetis, mit wehendem rötlichen Gewand, überredete Hephaistos, eine Rüstung für ihren Sohn Achill anzufertigen. Sobald die Waffen fertig waren – der Moment der „Anprobe“ ist hier dargestellt – eilte Thetis und Hephaistos blieb ohne den versprochenen Liebeslohn zurück. Das um 1630/32 entstandene Originalgemälde des Künstlers befindet sich im Kunsthistorischen Museum Wien und hat die Maße 117 x 156 cm. (1370281) (18)
