Petrus Schotanus,
1601 Leeuwarden – ca. 1675
The year of his death cannot be clearly determined from the various sources. The painter whose works only rarely appear in collections or on the art market was active during the second half of the 17th century. The few known sources reveal that he was active in Leeuwarden around 1663/64 and Amsterdam in 1687. Despite the little known oeuvre Schotanus’ work is of high quality of the 17th century Dutch School.
