Romantische, fein gemalte Landschaft; eine kleine hügelige Erhebung über einem Flusslauf, an dem links im Bild Schäfer Kühe zur Tränke führen. Im Mittelgrund zwei hohe Eichenbäume, unter denen ein Schäferpaar sitzt, der Schäfer an den Baum gelehnt. Am Boden die Schäferin mit ihrem Kleinkind sitzend. Seitlich und im Vordergrund Kühe, Kälbchen, Schafe und Ziegen. Der Hintergrund rahmt mit der Silhouette eines fein wiedergegebenen Eichenwäldchens die Szenerie.
