Blick auf ein kleines, auf einem Stuhl mit geflochtenem Sitz nach vorne gebeugt hockendes Mädchen, mit ihren Armen liebevoll einen Cockerspaniel haltend. Sie trägt ein dünnes, faltenreiches Hemdchen mit passender, am Hals seitlich geknoteter Kopfbedeckung; beide schauen mit ihren glänzenden Augen aufmerksam aus dem Bild heraus.
Das kleine Bild greift eine beliebte Komposition von Jean-Baptiste Greuze auf, die vermutlich 1767 im Pariser Salon ausgestellt wurde und sich heute in Londoner Privatbesitz befindet. Die Darstellung erfreute sich großer Nachfrage und wurde von Greuze mehrfach wiederholt. Dargestellt ist möglicherweise Louise-Gabrielle (gest. 1764), die dritte Tochter des Künstlers. Teils gebräunt, am Rand beschnitten, Nadellöcher. (1390675) (18)
