Durch zwei leichte Anhöhen, die mit hohen Pinienbäumen bewachsen sind, hindurch fällt der Blick über zwei Gesteinsbrocken auf den ruhigen, im Sonnenlicht schimmernden, blauen See. Auf der linken Anhöhe führt ein schmaler Weg hinab zum Meer, an dem eine Frau mit ihrem Kind sitzt. Der hohe blaue Himmel, mit kleinen weißen Wolken im warmen sommerlichen Licht. Stimmungsvolle Malerei in weicher zarter Farbgebung mit gekonnt gesetzten Licht- und Schattenpartien. Kleine Rahmenschäden.
Ascan Lutteroth war ein deutscher Landschaftsmaler der Düsseldorfer Malerschule. Zwischen 1868-1870 lebte er in Italien, u.a. auf Capri. Kronprinz Friedrich Wilhelm und Kronprinzession Viktoria schätzten ihn sehr, 1879 nahmen sie ihn mit auf ihre Reise nach Sanremo. (1221591) (1) (18)
