Das mit Abstand größte bekannte Gemälde des Stilllebenmalers Pseudo Roestraeten zeigt eine Erzlaute, Bücher, Handschriften, Tongefäße auf einem über einem Tisch drapiertem orientalischen Teppich. Der Maler ist zwar namentlich nicht identifiziert, orientierte sich jedoch stark an Werken von Pieter Gerritz. van Roestraeten, pflegte jedoch, den Teppich in Punkt Manier zu malen. Da viele seiner Gemäle in Groß Britannien zu finden sind, geht man davon aus, dass er dort tätig war.
