Emilio Vedova,
1919 Venedig – 2006 ebenda

Bedeutender Maler des Informel. Er arbeitete 1930 - 1935 bei einem Fotografen und einem Restaurator und besuchte die Kunstschule an der Carmini.
1936 - 1943 hielt er sich abwechselnd in Rom, Venedig und Florenz auf. Als Hauptvertreter der Italienischen Informelmalerei war er Mitbegründer der Künstlergemeinschaft Fronte Nuovo delle Arti (1946) und Gruppo degli Otto (1952). Ab 1947 war Vedova an der Biennale von Venedig beteiligt, ab 1955 an der documenta I und II in Kassel, 1960 erhielt er den großen Preis der Biennale von Venedig. Später nahm er in Kassel auch an der documenta III und VII teil und wurde schließlich 1993 mit dem Antonio-Feltrinelli-Preis ausgezeichnet.DAGEGEN, 1982 Mischtechnik auf Karton, auf Leinwand aufgelegt.

Important Art Informel painter. Between 1930 and 1935 Vedova worked for a photographer and restorer and attended the Scuola Grande dei Carmini. From 1936 to 1943 he lived alternately in Rome, Venice and Florence. As the leading exponent of Italian Art Informel painting he was co-founder of the artist groups "Fronte Nuovo delle Arti" (1946) and "Gruppo degli Otto" (1952). From 1947 onwards Vedova exhibited at the Venice Biennale and the two initial Documenta I and II exhibitions in Kassel in 1955 and 1959. In 1960 he was awarded the Grand Prix at the Venice Biennale. He also exhibited at Documenta III and VII and was awarded the Antonio-Feltrinelli price in 1993.
