1607 Dordrecht – bis nach 1669
Der Sohn des Malers Abraham Bartholomeus Assteyn wurde 1631 als Nachfolge seines Vaters Mitglied der Dordrechter Sankt Lukas Gilde. Der Maler signierte zwischen 1630 und 1640 mit B. Asstejn. Das letzte seiner wenigen, etwa 25 bekannten Bilder ist 1669 datiert, das Todesdatum nicht bekannt. STILLLEBEN MIT FRÜCHTEKRANZ UND BLÜTEN Öl auf Holz. Parkettiert.

Der Aufbau des Stilllebens äußerst ungewöhnlich und fantasievoll. Vor türkisgrünem Hintergrund wird ein Fruchtgebinde gezeigt, welches vom linken bis zum rechten Bildrand hängt. Zwischen Obst- und Weinblättern eingeflochten, die von links oben beleuchteten Früchte wie Aprikosen, Trauben und Pflaumen. Unter dem freischwingenden Fruchtkranz eine Steinplatte auf der ein Rosenblütenzweig sowie eine gefiederte Tulpe liegen.
