Das von Van Dyck geschaffene Original, das sich heute im Walters Art Museum in Baltimore befindet (Inv.Nr. 37.234, 126 x 114,6 cm), wurde sowohl von der Werkstatt als auch danach mehrfach wiederholt. Allerdings zeigen die Wiederholungen nahezu immer Unterschiede in Details oder der Farbwahl der Textilien. So ist das Tuch, auf dem das Jesuskind steht, im Original blau gemalt, hier jedoch in bräunlicher Farbe. Im Original, wie hier, ist der Blick der Maria in Andacht nach oben gerichtet, während das Kind zur Seite blickt. Insgesamt feine, qualitätvolle Pinselhandschrift. A. R.
