Blick auf eine sommerliche Wiese, die durch einen Zaun untergliedert wird. Die Hirtenkinder halten das Gatter geöffnet, aus dem Stall im rechten Hintergrund dringen die Tiere auf die Wiese, im linken Vordergrund Hühner. Schöne, sommerliche Atmosphäre. (971434)

Our piece can be dated around 1896 for its close stylistic and thematic affinity with the Pastoral Scene dated that year (P. Biscottini, 1996, p. 443, n. 771). As usual in this series of pictures, the painter concentrates on representing the figures strictly linked with their natural setting. In these works, he puts special attention on the light-colour connection to reach idiomatic effects of shine and transparency, often taking advantage of the use of the camera.
