Carlo Stratta,
1852 Turin – 1936
Der Künstler studierte anfänglich am Turiner Polytechnikum, dann unter A. Fontanesi an der Accademia Albertina, ab 1875 war er für ein Jahrzehnt in Paris tätig, wo er sich unter Thomas Couture weitergebildet hatte. Nach Aufenthalt in Kairo 1879 nahm er an der Ausstellung in Mailand teil, in der Folge an weiteren, bedeutenden Ausstellungen wie etwa in Turin 1893 sowie 1898.

Junges Mädchen in rosafarbenem Ballkleid schreitet tänzelnd eine breite Treppe herab, seitlich als Harlekin und Pierrot gekleidete Musikanten mit Cello und Blasinstrument, im Hintergrund weitere Musikanten sowie am Tisch feiernde Personen zumeist mit venezianischen Karnevalsmasken. (9518516)
