Der gemäß nur noch schwer leserlicher Aufschrift im Alter von 18 Jahren Porträtierte zählt wohl zu einer der genealogischen Zweige der Medici-Familie. Aus dem ebenso verwischten Schriftzug seitlich des Kopfes rechts geht die Datierung „1402“ hervor. Demgemäß hat der Maler den bereits ein Jahrhundert zuvor Verstorbenen im Kostüm der eigenen Zeit dargestellt, in schwarzer Kleidung mit weißem Kragen und Handschuhen in einem großen, barock anmutenden Gürtelring, ähnlich der Bronzino-Bildnissen des Agnolo di C. Allori oder des Ludovico Capponi.
Der Dargestellte im Dreiviertelbildnis im Hochoval, vor grüngrauem Hintergrund, oben die Bezeichnung, soweit lesbar „Niccol [...] Medici [...] 1402“. (1230021) (2) (11)

In gilt and engraved frame.
According to the hardly legible inscription the portrayed person is aged 18 and probably shows a member from one of the branches of the Medici family. The blurred inscription on the right of the head shows the date “1402”.
