Der Künstler war ein französischer Portrait- und Historienmaler. Bekannt wurde er insbesondere für seine Portraits von Napoleon und Joséphine; aufgrund seines Portraits von Ludwig XVIII wurde er zum Hofmaler ernannt.
Vor dunklem Hintergrund Brustbildnis eines Mannes nach rechts, in rötlichem Gewand mit langem Vollbart und einem sorgsam gebundenen, glänzenden weißen Turban mit vereinzelt rot-blauen und goldenen Streifen. Er hat eine große Nase, buschige Augenbrauen und mit seinen dunklen Augen schaut er nachdenklich, leicht nach unten in die Ferne. Feine Malerei bei starkem Hell-Dunkel-Kontrast. Leinwand vereinzelt mit Rissen, verso kleine Unterlegungen. (1220871) (3) (18)
