Leandro Bassano,
eigentlich „Leandro da Ponte“,

Sohn des Jacopo Bassano (1510/15-1592).

Mit Vergleichsbeispielen: Werke ähnlicher Portraits in der Galleria Spada, Rom, Prado, Madrid sowie Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto. Mit Literaturangabe. Der Portraitierte venezianische Adelige im Dreiviertelbildnis, in schwarzem Mantel mit weißer Halskrause, gekräuselten Hemdmanschetten, die aus den Ärmeln hervortreten, sowie zeitgemäß kurz gestutztem Bart. Die linke Hand hat er auf einen Tisch mit gemustertem Orientteppich gelegt, links ist hinter der Dreiviertelfigur die breite Goldbordüre eines Velums zu erkennen. Rechts oben seitlich Bezeichnung des Dargestellten, in der zweiten Zeile Altersangabe „AETATIS SVE 48“. Der demgemäß hier 48-Jährige konnte aufgrund des rechts oben dunkel gemalten Wappens der aristokratischen Familie Giovanelli aus Venedig zugeordnet werden. Rechts oberhalb des Wappens die Datierung „1590“.
