Rare first edition of the collected works of the classicist poet and translator Vincenzo Monti (1754 - 1828), here in the nice octavo format. The first two volumes contain Monti's translation of the Iliad, volume 3 gives Poesie varie, 4 Poemetti varii, 5 the translation of Persius Flaccus, 6 the Tragedie, 7 and 8 the Dialoghi.

The first volume is probably lacking a half-title, otherwise complete. Some light marginal staining, one volume with an ink stain in the white margin of the first part, otherwise mostly clean, printed on good paper. Bookplate of Charles Bois de Chene. A decorative set. (990527) (10)
