Federico Zandomeneghi,
1841 Venice - 1917 Paris

Mixed technique/ Oil crayon on cardboard.
41 x 33 cm.
Signed top left.

Like Degas, Zandomeneghi loved to work in pastel. In Portrait of a girl with a flower we find Zandomeneghi’s elegantly introspective style and his chromatic brightness and inventiveness, strictly close to the poetics and pictorial researches by Degas and Renoir. Like in a snapshot, the girl is captured in an intimate moment and in a spontaneous pose. The Venetian artist has the capacity for returning the fascination of her expression, candid and mysterious at the same time.
