Der Spieler ist auf einem Stuhl nach links sitzend mit übereinander geschlagenen Beinen wiedergegeben, in seinen Händen hält er die Mandoline. Er ist nach Art der höfischen Musikanten mit rotem, reich besticktem Mantel bekleidet und trägt einen Dreispitz. Vor ihm ein Notenpult, im Hintergrund eine vergoldete Konsole mit blauer Porzellanvase, am Boden Notenpapier.
