Dezente Rest.

Anmerkung:

Literatur:

Maiolica armorial alzata
Diameter: 28 cm.
Height: 6.5 cm.
Workshops of Urbino or Casteldurante, late 16th century.

Flat dish on a short foot. The rim is painted with a delicate geometrical band. At the centre winged cupids against a blue ground with delicate white ribbons. They float around a canopy at the centre that frames a court of arms. The underside of the dish is decorated with geometric patterns comprising concentric circles and overlapping arches on the outer edge. Painted in blue, yellow, red, green and manganese. Subtle restoration.

Notes:
The arms feature a yellow star against a blue ground, below a yellow bar and light blue wavy sky design underneath. It is related to the arms of a noble family from Calabria.

Literature:
A dish with similar arms in curved cartouche, see Vincenzo de Pompeis, La maiolica Italiana di Stile Compendiario. I bianchi, Turin, 2010, p. 212, fig. 11.
