Im Vordergrund an einer Uferanhöhe eine Gruppe von Hirten, im Zentrum eine Frau auf einem Rind, am Uferrand ein Schäfer mit seinen Schafen. Links im Bild als Repoussoir ein hochziehendes, von Sträuchern bewachsenes Ruinenmauerstück, am jenseitigen Ufer ziehen Felsen in die Tiefe mit daraufstehender Burg. Im Hintergrund, ganz entgegen der italienischen Bauweise ein Kirchengebäude mit hoher, spitzer Turmhaube. (880901)
