Nahezu quadratische Tapisserie mit breiter Randbordüre mit Blüten sowie ovalen Kartuschen mit eingeblendeten Landschaftsdarstellungen, die sich im Farbton abheben. Im Zentrum, dunkelbraun und beigefarben gerahmt, höfisch gekleidetes Paar unter Bäumen, durch die Inschriften bezeichnet als Wiedergabe der Geschichte von Angelique und Medor, jenem Liebespaar, das im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert in Literatur und Bildern thematisiert wurde. Die Bezeichnung des Liebespaares “Angelique/ Medor” am Oberrand der Darstellung eingewirkt, seitlich siebenzeilige Textlegende mit der Aufschrift “ANGELIQUE DE DANS . LIEVX/ ESPRISE UN ARDEUR/ NOVELLE/ RE-M-TA- MEDOR/ SON FIDELE/ DEC-VEILLIER-SONPLOUS/ PRF.-CLVX”: Gute Farberhaltung, in feiner Qualität gefertigt.
Anmerkung I:
1685 schuf Dancourt (1661 - 1725), ein Drama desselben Titels nach Literaturvorlagen von Ariost und Coriolan (Orlando Furioso). Auch Molière hat sich diesem Thema gewidmet.

Die Tapisserie ist insofern von besonderer Seltenheit, weil literarische Themen dieser qualitätvollen Gobelinwiedergabe nur für Ausstattungen des Hochadels üblich waren. (7505916)
