Der Maler hat sich in einem steinernen Rundbogenfenster sitzend dargestellt, mit Palette und Pinsel in der Linken, mit der rechten Hand blättert er in einem Buch, dessen Seite mit der Signatur Dous bezeichnet ist. An der Brüstung bunt gestreiftes Tuch, darunter antikes Bildrelief mit Putten und einem Ziegenbock. Rechts am Fensterrahmen ein Vogelbauer, umrankt von einem Weinstock. Links eine große Tonvase mit Blumen.
Anmerkung:
Die dendrochronologische Untersuchung von Prof. Dr. Klein vom 17.12.2002 ergibt ein Alter der Malplatte ab 1657.
