Fantasielandschaft mit Darstellung eines Flusses, der in reichen Windungen um eine Insel und mehrere Landzungen zieht. An den Ufergestaden, auf der Insel und auf den Bergen Gebäude und Ruinen, Festung mit Rundturm, links ein von Palisaden umfriedetes Städtchen. In der rechten Bildecke unter einer Baumgruppe Jesus im Strahlenkranz sitzend, ihm gegenüber Satan in heller Kutte, bärtig und gehörnt, der ihm zwei Steine reicht. Dem Bibeltext zufolge weitere, synoptisch wiedergegebene Darstellungen mit Jesus und dem Satan auf einem Berggipfel bzw. auf einem Turm stehend, ins Tal blickend, Elend und Glück der Menschheit betrachtend.
