Ein schottischer Jäger präsentiert dem Abt seine Jagdbeute, bestehend aus Rotwild, Gefiederwild sowie Fisch, assistiert von zwei Gehilfen, einem Mädchen und einem Jungen. Hinter dem Abt weilt ein Mönch mit Karaffe und Gläsern auf einem Tablett. Links im Bild die beiden Jagdhunde des Jägers, rechts neben dem Abt ein King Charles Spaniel.

Monogramm. und 1833 dat.

Sir Edwin Henry Landseer war Englands erfolgreichster Tiermaler des 19. Jhdts. und im Jahre 1865 wurde ihm die Präsidentschaft der Royal Academy angeboten. Diese Ehre nahm Landseer jedoch nicht an. (590321)
