Giovanni da Bologna, nach 1524 Douai - 1608 Florenz
Bronzefigur des "Merkur" nach dem Original (1,80 m) von 1580 im Museo Nazionale Bargello in Florenz. Feine Bronze-Arbeit des auf einem Wasserstrahl stehenden, tänzerisch nach oben weisenden Merkur mit Flügelhelm. Der Wasserstrahl entspringt dem Mund eines Kopfes, der als Meeresgott zu interpretieren ist. Dieser wiederum auf einer rechteckigen Plinte. Leicht variierende Wiederholung des Renaissance-Originals in starker Verkleinerung. Der in der linken Hand gehaltene Gegenstand (Füllhorn?) fehlt. Schöne glänzende, dunkeloliv-braune Patina. Auf einem runden Carrara-Marmorsockel, neuzeitlich, montiert. H.: 53 cm. 17. Jhdt. oder später. (983441)
