Das vorliegende Gemälde, das zwischen 1637 und 1666 datiert wird, ist abgebildet im RKD, Den Haag unter der Nummer 5259.
Unter hohem hellblauen Himmel mit weißen Wolkenformationen eine große prachtvolle Fregatte mit gesetzten Segeln, gerade dabei einen Kanonenschuss abzugeben, von dem Rauchwolken in den Himmel steigen. Nach rechts ein weiteres holländisches Schiff und am Ufer eine Stadt mit einer hohen, die Häuser überragenden Kathedrale. Am rechten Ufer weitere kleinere ankernde Boote und im bergigen Hintergrund auf einer Anhöhe eine Burganlage. Malerei in der typischen Manier des für seine Seestücke bekannten Künstlers.
