Die Künstlerin, eine französische Fotografin, ist die Tochter des Schriftstellers Maurice Rheims, der auch Nachlassverwalter von Pablo Picasso war und der Frankfurterin Lili Krahmer. Bevor sie Karriere als Fotografin machte, arbeitete sie als Fotomodell. Ihre provokant-erotischen Inszenierungen in ihrer Akt- und Glamourfotografie machten sie weltweit bekannt.
