Von einem leicht erhabenen Betrachterstandpunkt fällt der Blick über eine gedrungene Berghütte neben einem Bergbach auf die teils noch schneebedeckten, felsigen Gipfel im Hintergrund.
Achenbach, beeinflusst von William Turner und Gustave Courbet legte großen Wert auf die Lichtführung und die atmosphärische Auflösung der Landschaft mit teilweise nur schemenhafter Andeutung der Formen, die auch in diesem Gemälde zu sehen sind. (1371032) (19)
