Inmitten einer klassizistischen Architektur mit ionischen Kapitellen und hervorspringenden Architraven eine überfangende Wolke mit zahlreichen Engeln und Cherubim. Darunter eine Figurengruppe, von denen die Heilige Jungfrau in ihrer rot-weiß-blauen Gewandung hervorsticht. Rechts neben ihr ist ihre Cousine Elisabeth zu sehen. Die dargestellte Episode bezieht sich auf eine Bibelstelle in Lukas 1,39-40, wonach im Anschluss auf die Verkündigungsszene erzählt wird, dass die schwangere Maria sich auf den Weg macht, um ihre Verwandte Elisabeth zu besuchen, welche wiederum bereits im sechsten Monat mit Johannes dem Täufer schwanger war und sie mit den Worten grüßte „Gesegnet bist du unter den Frauen und gesegnet ist die Frucht deines Leibes. Wer bin ich, dass die Mutter meines Herrn zu mir kommt?“
