Vor mit rotem schweren Brokatvorhang abgedunkeltem Hintergrund eine massive steinerne glänzende Tischplatte, die rechts mit einem Tuch bedeckt ist. Darauf diverse Vanitasobjekte: drei Musikinstrumente mit Notenblatt, davon eine Violine, ein Totenschädel, drei Bücher, ein Tintenfass mit Federkiel und Brief, ein weiterer, aber zerknitterter Brief mit rotem Wachssiegel, eine erloschene Kerze und eine goldene Tischuhr.
