Steil empor ragen Felsen, die durch einen Wasserfall zerschnitten werden, den ein Adler überfliegt. Thoma, von dem uns Wasserfälle oft großen Formates überliefert sind, beweist mit diesem kleinen Gemälde und seinem studienhaften flüssigen Duktus, dass er auch Großes im kleinen Format zu leisten im Stande war.
