Beigegeben eine Expertise von Giuliano Briganti vom 5. November 1990 in Kopie, das Werk dem genannten Maler zuschreibend sowie die hohe Qualität der Malerei hervorhebend.
Diana sind nicht nur ihr Pfeilköcher, sondern auch ein Windhund attributiv beigesellt, sodass an dem Motiv kein Zweifel herrscht: Diana rastet mit ihren teils im von einer Grottendecke überfangenem Wasser tollenden Nymphen, während eine derer mit ihrer Hand links außerhalb des Bildfeldes weist, welches von allerhand antiken Architektur - und Skulpturfragmenten gespickt ist - vermutlich ein vorweggreifender Hinweis auf den hier noch nicht sichtbaren Aktaion.
