Außergewöhnliches Hochrelief

Mit viel Gefühl für eine harmonische Gesamtkomposition zeigt der Künstler hier, wie man die Renaissance im Italien des ausgehenden 18. Jahrhunderts sah. Dargestellt ist ein Relief, welches bereits von der Außenkanzel des Duomo di Prato, Kathedrale di Santo Stefano, in Florenz bekannt ist. Die Kanzel wurde von Donatello (um 1386-1466) und Michelozzo di Bartolommeo (1396-1471/72) 1428-1438 erschaffen. Das Relief hier ist jedoch in eine Rahmenarchitektur mit manieristischen Elementen eingelassen und kann somit als Nachschöpfung mit Unikatcharakter angesehen werden. (12005812) (13)

With a great sense for the harmonious overall composition the artist shows how the Renaissance was perceived in Italy during the late 18th century. It shows a relief that we already know from the outside pulpit of the Prato Cathedral of Saint Stephen in Florence. The pulpit was created between 1428 and 1438 by Donatello and Michelozzo di Bartolomeo. The relief on offer for sale in this lot is set in an architectural frame with Mannerist elements and can therefore be considered a copy of unique character.
