Für den Maler typische Komposition an einem offenen Gewässer, durch welches das Gemälde horizontal in zwei untere Drittel und ein oberes Drittel unterteilt wird. Dabei wird der Kopf Christi durch helle Wolken gerahmt und somit seine Bedeutung inmitten des wunderbaren Fischzuges unterstrichen, der hier durch zahlreiche, teils nur knapp bekleidete Männer dargestellt wird (Lukas 5,1-11). Nachdem Jesus am See Genezareth eine Volksmenge zunächst vom Ufer, hinterher vom Schiff des Simon Petrus gelehrt hat, welches hier ebenfalls dargestellt wird, sorgte er für ein Wunder, nach welchem Petrus und seine Genossen einen gewaltigen Fischfang machen durften. Parallelberichte (MT 4,18-22 bzw. MK 1,16-20) erzählen, dass auch Andreas, der Bruder von Petrus sowie Jakobus und Johannes alles verließen, um dem Herren zu dienen. Kompositionell, als auch was die Physiognomien angeht, ähnelt das vorliegende Gemälde einem Bild, welches ebenfalls Beinaschi zugeschrieben wurde und das letzte Abendmal darstellt (Auktion Dorotheum Wien, 06.-09. Juni 1972, 12./ Fototeca Fondazione Zeri Nr. 48819). (1200551) (13)

With regards to its composition and the depiction of the figures' physiognomies the painting on offer for sale in this lot resembles another painting depicting The Last Supper, which was also attributed to Beinaschi (Auction, Dorotheum Vienna, 6.- 9. June 1972, 12./ Fototeca Fondazione Zeri no. 48819).
This object has been individually compared to the information in the Art Loss Register data bank and is not registered there as stolen or missing.
