IMPORTANT ALABASTER FIGURE OF SAINT SEBASTIAN
Height: 40 cm.
Probably Ãœberlingen, ca. 1625.
After having finished his apprenticeship, Jörg Zürn collaborated with his father, Hans Zürn the Elder, in Überlingen where he also took over the workshop of Virgilius Moll in 1607. The present work was probably created during his time there, around 1625.
High-quality, three-dimensional alabaster carving with original polychromy and parcel-gilt decoration; the base lined with old brocade.
