Weite Flusslandschaft mit niedrigem Horizont und abschließendem Hochplateau bzw. Bewaldung. Ein Fluss, welcher die untergehende Sonne wiederspiegelt trägt ein Schiff mit verschattetem Segel, welches sehr schön mit dem Himmel kontrastiert. Abendstimmungen sind neben seinen lichten Landschaften typisch für das Werk von José Weiss.
Provenienz:
Sammlung Werner Schattmann, erworben in London um 1960.

Rückseitiges Etikett auf den Maler verweisend mit einer Ordnungsnummer 81/9 sowie ein Etikett des Rahmenherstellers The Rowley Gallery Ltd. Kensington.

Werner Schattmann war ein deutscher Jurist und Diplomat, welcher zunächst in Buenos Aires, dann in London, Pretoria und später in Lima, Bonn, Kinshasa, Lissabon und Prag tätig war. 1983 wurde ihm das Verdienstkreuz 1. Klasse verliehen. (1010093) (13)
