Die hier angebotene Bronze Teil eines Ensembles, bestehend aus vier großen patinierten Bronzefiguren. Ares, in der griechischen Mythologie der Gott des Krieges, auf einem Baumstumpf sitzend. Sein nackter Körper ist lediglich mit einem Tuch um die Hüfte bekleidet. Er hat das linke Knie angewinkelt und seine Arme darüber gelegt. In den Händen hält er ein schweres Schwert. Zu seiner rechten Seite hat er ein Schild gestellt, zudem sitzt zu seinen Füßen ein kleiner Putto. Anmutige Skulptur nach antikem Vorbild des „Arès Ludovisi“ in pentelischem Marmor, welches sich im Museo nazionale romano di palazzo Altemps in Rom (Inventarnummer 8602) befindet. Diese römische Kopie des Gottes Mars aus dem 2. Jahrhundert n. Chr. wurde ausgeführt nach einem griechischen Original, das um 420 v. Chr. datiert und Scopas oder Lysippus zugeschrieben wird. (†)

Die künstlerische Gießerei Ferdinando Marinelli (Fonderia Artistica Ferdinando Marinelli, auch bekannt als FAFM) ist eine der letzten verbliebenen florentinischen Gießereien, die Werke in Bronze nach der Renaissance-Technik des Wachsausschmelzens herstellen. Eine große Anzahl von Bronzeskulpturen, die im letzten Jahrhundert in Florenz hergestellt wurden, stammen aus dieser künstlerischen Gießerei. Die Ursprünge der Bronzegießerei von Fernando Marinelli gehen bis in das 16. Jahrhundert zurück. (1261825) (18)
