(10106919) (11)
Fritz von Uhde,

PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG MAN IN RENAISSANCE COSTUME
Oil on canvas.
121 x 82.5 cm.
Signed upper right.
Fritz von Uhde studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden and was later co-founder and president (1899 - 1904) of the Munich Secession. Promoted and influenced by the painters Wilhelm von Kaulbach and Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld. His work shows the transition from Realism to Impressionism. The painting might have been created in the early period of Uhde's oeuvre and still entirely shows the characteristic features under the influence of von Kaulbach and Lenbach in Munich.
