In gemaltem Hochoval vor grünlichem Hintergrund das Halbportrait leicht nach rechts des Königs in brauner Jacke mit kleiner Ordensreihe und einem weißen gebundenen Schal. Er trägt im rechten Ohr einen Ring, hat rote Wangen und schaut mit seinen dunklen Augen würdevoll aus dem Bild heraus. Qualitätvolle repräsentative Darstellung. Teils Randretuschen.
Anmerkung:
Der Künstler studierte zunächst an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, weiteres Studium führte ihn nach Antwerpen, London, Paris, Wien und Italien. Kurfürst Karl Theodor berief ihn 1784 als Hofmaler nach München. Dort schuf er sein bekanntestes Werk: das lebensgroße Bildnis von König Max I Joseph im Krönungsornat. (13906712) (18)
