Großformatiges Männerbildnis in freier, gestischer Malerei und pastosem Farbauftrag.
Muehls Arbeiten gehören zum so genannten Wiener Aktionismus der 1960er Jahre. 1962 fand in Muehls Kelleratelier die erste aktionsähnliche Veranstaltung "Die Blutorgel" statt, an der Muehl, sowie Adolf Frohner und Hermann Nitsch beteiligt waren. Die Idee wurde im Frühjahr 1963 zusammen mit Nitsch im "Fest des psycho-physischen Naturalismus" radikalisiert. Von 1964 bis 1966 führte Muehl zahlreiche sogenannte "Materialaktionen" durch, die zum Teil vom Filmemacher Kurt Kren, zum Teil vom Fotografen Ludwig Hoffenreich festgehalten wurden. 1966 entwickelte er in enger Zusammenarbeit mit Günter Brus einen neuen Aktionstyp, bei dem der Körper selbst und seine Funktionen als das eigentliche Material begriffen wurde. Bekannt und berüchtigt wurde Muehl auch durch die Gründung einer Kommune, die bis 1983 auf ca. 600 Mitglieder angewachsen war und nicht zuletzt wegen seiner Verurteilung wegen Kindesmissbrauchs.
