Giuseppe Santomaso,

Santomaso studierte an der Akademie in Venedig und setzte sich intensiv mit der avantgardistischen Kunst auseinander. Seine Kunst wurde in den 50er Jahren beeinflusst durch das Informel zunehmend abstrakter. Er nahm häufig an der Biennale in Venedig teil sowie mehrfach an der Documenta in Kassel.

Die abstrakte Komposition ist in Pastelltönen gehalten, die durch schwarze Linien und braune Flächen strukturiert werden. Die Einflüsse und Santomasos Auseinandersetzung mit dem Informel, das ihn in den 50er Jahren beschäftigte, werden in dieser Arbeit besonders deutlich. Das Werk enstand im ersten Jahr, in dem Santomaso an der Accademia di Belle Arti als Lehrer tätig war.
