Rechts unten bezeichnet „la Ciotat“, darunter durchgestrichen „Cassis“, darunter signiert und datiert „Dix 53“, links davon „Z53/7“, am linken unteren Bildrand „Kabus 899“.

Blick von erhöhtem Standpunkt über die Bucht mit links hochziehendem Tafelberg und rechts nach hinten verlaufender Uferkrümmung mit zwei Landzungen, dahinter im rechten, oberen Bildteil Andeutung von Berggipfeln. Mittig scheint sich ein windungsreicher Fluss ins Tal herabzuziehen, links vorne eine durch eine gemauerte Böschung gesicherte, kurvige Bergstraße. Die Meeresfläche zieht sich bis zum Horizont, die Horizontlinie nur noch fein, diesig wiedergegeben, während die Tektur der Landschaft in lockeren, rhythmisch abgesetzten Strichen am linken Berghang bzw. krausen Formen im Tal rechts angedeutet wird.
