Großformatiges Gemälde in Malauffassung des phantastischen Realismus mit Wiedergabe der religiösen Thematik der Versuchung des Heiligen Antonius. Antonius hier als Greis an einem Schreibpult wiedergegeben, aus dem Fenster blickend, umgeben von zahllosen furchterregenden Phantasiefiguren, die hier - im Gegensatz zu Vorbildern der gotischen und Renaissance-Malerei - auf den Heiligen weniger abschreckend einwirken, sondern eher als Gruselkabinett-Sammlungsstücke behandelt erscheinen. Neben ästhetisch abstossenden Gestalten auch eine Schleiereule am linken Bildrand mit schönem Frauengesicht.
