Der jugendliche David im Halbbildnis wiedergegeben, der Oberkörper nackt, mit einem rotfarbenem Tuch umhüllt, mit einem über die Brust laufenden Band. Er steht über einer tiefer gelegenen, weiten, hügeligen Landschaft. Links im Bild Andeutung von Sträuchern, rechts ein Sockel, auf dem Goliaths Haupt liegt, das David am Haarschopf hält. Rechts an den Sockel gelehnt das Schwert mit Knauf in Form eines Adlerkopfes.

Das Gemälde demonstriert das Schönheitsideal des heldenhaften Jünglings mit weichen Gesichtszügen im Sinne der humanistisch geprägten Malerei des italienischen 17. Jahrhunderts. (710554)
