Das Ereignis auf dem Weg Jesu zum Kalvarienberg zeigt dessen Fall unter der Last des Kreuzes. Jesus im roten Spottmantel, mit Dornenkrone, die Augen müde geschlossen. Zwei Männer suchen das Kreuz aufzurichten, im Hintergrund in diesigem Licht die Assistenzfiguren, darunter hell gekleidete Alte mit Turban bzw. über den Kopf gezogenem Tuch. Farbcharakter der Darstellung, das Blau des Himmels, die Haltung der einzelnen Figuren lassen den Einfluss der Schule des Tiepolo deutlich erkennen.
Der Maler wird erstmals 1739 und 1747 erwähnt und ist in der Gilde von Venedig eingetragen. Bekannt wurde er durch seine Werke in San Cassian und im Dogenpalast. Ferner wirkte er an der Ausstellung der Scuola Grande dei Carmini mit. Es wird angenommen, dass er als einer der Gehilfen von Tiepolo um 1740 in Mailand arbeitete.

The colouration of the depiction, the blue of the sky and the posture of the individual figures clearly show the influence of the Tiepolo school.
It can be assumed that he was active as one of Tiepolo’s workshop assistants in Milan in ca. 1740.
