Das vorliegende Gemälde ist eine detailgetreue Wiederholung des in den Uffizien unter der Inv.Nr. 1452 befindlichen Gemäldes von Annibale Carracci, das jedoch mit 112 x 142 cm ein wenig kleiner ist als das hier angebotene Gemälde, das Emilio Negro Annibale Carracci und seiner „formidabile“ Werkstatt zuschreibt. Venus lagert als Rückenstück im Vordergrund auf einem reich gefälteten weißen Tuch, das ihren wohlgeformten und manieristisch verdrehten Körper einmal umzieht, um sich vor den geifernden Blicken des Satyr zu schützen, der sich mit einer großen Crespina gefüllt mit Trauben à deux couleurs nähert. Während eine kleine Satyrnamorette mit kleinen Hornansätzen ihre Beine umfasst, fasst eine weitere Amorette den Satyr am Horn und ist im Begriff, Venus mit einem Blütenkranz zu schmücken. Rest.

Anmerkung:
Das Gemälde in den Uffizien ist bei der Fondazione Zeri unter Nummer 53760 dokumentiert. Eine Kopie desselben befindet sich im Palazzo Pitti unter der Inv.Nr. 480. Noch eine Kopie wurde bei Christie's, New York, am 10. Oktober 1990, Lot 111, angeboten.

Annibale war Bruder des Agostino Carracci (1557-1602) und lernte bei seinem Cousin Ludovico Carracci (1555-1619) in Parma. Erst 1595 von Kardinal Farnese nach Rom berufen, kam er mit den Werken von Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564) und Raphaello Santi (1483-1520) in engste Berührung. (12811811) (2) (13)

The present painting is a detailed copy of the one held at the Uffizi Galleries (inv. no. 1452) by Annibale Carracci, which only measures 112 x 142 cm and is therefore a little smaller than the painting on offer for sale here. The expert Emilio Negro attributes the present painting to Annibale Carracci and his “formidable“ workshop.

The Uffizi painting is listed at the Fondazione Zeri with no. 53760. A copy of the same is held at the Palazzo Pitti with inv. no. 480. A further copy was offered at Christie‘s New York, 10 October 1990, lot 111.
