Das vorliegende Portrait bezieht sich auf das Raffael zugeschriebene 'Bildnis eines jungen Mannes' (sog. 'Czartoryski-Portrait'), gemalt um 1510/11 (Öl auf Holz, 76,8 x 60,8 cm, Czartoryski Museum Krakau), das seit 1939 verschollen ist. Lange Zeit wurde das Gemälde für ein Selbstbildnis des Urbinaten gehalten.

Das Original von Raffael aus dem Czartoryski Museum, Krakau, ist seit 1939 verschollen.
