Camphuysen war Lehrer von Aert van der Neer, was dessen Auffassung von Flusslandschaften beeinflusst haben wird. Die hier dargestellte Flusslandschaft ist vorwiegend der üppigen Vegetation auf den Hügeln und im weiter hinten liegenden Tal gewidmet. Eine Brücke verbindet die Anhöhen, auf denen fantasievoll ländliche Architekturen und eine Kirche angesiedelt sind. Der sich durch das Bildfeld mäandrierende Weg wird durch mehrere Figuren in unterschiedlicher, der Bildtiefe entsprechenden Größe belebt. Rest.
Anmerkung:
Eine „RC“ monogrammierte Flusslandschaft, die beim RKD in Den Haag unter Inv. Nr. 114842 ebenfalls Rafael Camphuysen zugeschrieben wird, zeigt einen weniger feinen und doch ähnlichen Aufbau, was den dezenten Einsatz der Architekturstaffage angeht. (1270704) (13)

Notes:
A riverscape monogrammed with letters “RC” and listed at the RKD in The Hague with no. 114842 and also attributed to Rafael Camphuysen, shows a similar but less fine composition with regards to the subtle use of architectural staffage.
