Anbei in Kopie eine Expertise von Prof. Dr. Gaudenz Freuler, Zürich, der das Werk als charakteristisch für den genannten Künstler bezeichnet.
Hochrechteckiges Format mit oben rundbogig abschließender Kante. Die Darstellung auf ornamental reliefiertem Goldgrund. Maria nach links sitzend inmitten einer Landschaft mit niedrigem Horizont und dicht dargestellten Pflanzen. Auf ihrem Schoß das Christuskind mit verschränkten Händen. Der Nimbus Mariens flächig als Scheibe aufgefasst. Mehrere Varianten der Komposition von diesem Maler existieren, etwa im Museo Civico in Pisa und in der Galleria Nazionalle dell‘ Umbria in Perugia. Auch andere Künstler bedienten sich dieser Bildidee, wie etwa Zanino di Pietro und Jacobello del Fiore.

Anmerkung:
Der Name des Malers leitet sich von einem heute verschollenen Madonnenbildnis im Dom von Lonigo ab, welches auch kompositionell Vorbild für das hier angebotene Gemälde war. Lebensdaten nicht bekannt, als tätig zwischen 1420 und 1440 nachgewiesen. Nach anderen Wissenschaftler um 1400 eingeordnet, wobei sich der Name auf Altargemälde in der Kirche von Lonigo nähe Padua bezieht. (1250445)

European private collection.
Notes:
The name of convenience for this artist is derived from a today lost painting of the Virgin Mary from the Cathedral of Lonigo, which was also a paragon for the composition of the painting on offer for sale in this lot.
