In der bogig gestalteten Initiale „N“, wird das Martyrium des Heiligen Bartholomäus gezeigt. Sein Martyrium bestand in der Enthäutung, die hier links im Bild zu sehen ist, umgeben von weiteren Martyriumsdarstellungen der Enthauptung. Die mehrfigurige Szenerie in einer Landschaft mit rückwärts hochziehenden grünen Hügeln sowie einer Bergkuppe mit Türmen in blauer Luftperspektive, unter lapislazuliblauem Himmel. Darüber jenseits eines Bogens zwei Engelsprotomen, die je eine Heilgenfigur halten. Der Initialbuchstabe selbst polychrom und fantasievoll gestaltet, in Form eines rechts stehenden, kräftigen runden Pfeilers mit blauem Blattwerk und grüner Blattbekrönung. Am rechten Rand des Pergamentbogens sind Buchstaben und Noten in roter vierzeiliger Notenschrift sichtbar. Links Randdekoration des Antiphonarbogens mit stilisierten Blüten sowie Goldhöhungen. Kräftige Goldhöhung umzieht auch den Initialbuchstaben sowie die Nimbusscheiben der Märtyrer.
Anmerkung:
Vergleichbar ist eine ähnliche großformatige Initiale des Malers mit Darstellung des Verkaufs Josefs durch seine Brüder, datiert um 1490, wohl in Brescia entstanden, in ähnlichen Abmessungen, das sich im Metropolitan Museum of Arts befindet.

A good comparative example is a large format initial of the painter depicting the Selling of Joseph by his Brothers, from ca. 1490 and probably created in Brescia with similar dimensions held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
